The Virago averaged 40 mpg and the A.C.E., 36.6. Fuel mileage ranged from the Spirit's 42.5-mpg average to the 35.1-mpg average of the Aero. Honda had said that the Aero makes about five more horsepower thanks to its exhaust system design, but since it also weighs over 40 pounds more we expected to be a bit underwhelmed by the engine. The Aero uses an engine that, except for the first- and fifth-gear ratios, is identical to the Shadow A.C.E., which is relatively slow for an 1100. Following shows the average MPG of each of the 7 vehicles in the system. Below you can see a distribution of the fuel-ups with 8 outliers (4.97%) removed. 1997 Honda Shadow 1100 MPG Based on data from 7 vehicles, 153 fuel-ups and 14,560 miles of driving, the 1997 Honda Shadow 1100 gets a combined Avg MPG of 37.72 with a 0.90 MPG margin of error.
